Tara’s Journey from Web Developer to Writer!
Not long ago, I spent my days buried in lines of HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript, building websites, fixing bugs, and solving problems. As a web developer, I loved the logic and the challenge that came with coding. But deep down, I knew something was missing, a creative spark I couldn’t ignore.
Writing had always been my quiet passion. I kept journals, wrote short stories, and even finished writing my first fictional book, which is soon to be published. Over time, I realised that what I enjoyed most about development wasn’t just the code, it was the writing. Documenting projects, explaining technical ideas, and sharing knowledge through words always felt the most fulfilling.
That realisation changed everything.
I threw myself into learning content writing. I started with blog posts, mostly tech tutorials at first, which felt like a natural bridge between my old and new world. From there, I explored copywriting, web content, and storytelling. I studied SEO, experimented with tone and voice, and wrote every single day.
The transition wasn’t easy. Letting go of a stable role in tech came with plenty of doubt. But I took on freelance projects, slowly found my rhythm, and began shaping a writing style that felt true to me, clear, creative, and grounded in real-world connection. I learned how to craft content that not only resonates with readers but also reflects a brand’s voice with confidence.
Today, I’m a full-time content writer. I create blog posts, website copy, product descriptions, SEO content, and marketing material for clients across a range of industries, many of whom value my unique hybrid background. My words now reach a growing audience, and for the first time, I feel that spark of doing work that truly lights me up.
This journey has taught me that career changes don’t have to be linear. Sometimes, the next chapter is hidden in a skill you’ve quietly loved all along.
I didn’t leave tech, I just found a new way to speak its language. With words instead of code.
About Me
After 10+ years building websites, I realised my favorite part of the process wasn’t just the code, it was the storytelling behind the design, the copy that connects, and the way words shape digital experiences.
